As preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections, former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammed Adamu-Abubakar, has been endorsed by political stakeholders and grassroots supporters in Lafia Local Government Area as an aspirant for the Nasarawa State governorship under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A large crowd gathered at a town hall meeting in Lafia to express their support, urging the former police chief to join the race and promising widespread backing across the state.

Speaking at the event, Professor Mohammed Akaro-Mainoma, former Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University and chairman of the group, said the endorsement was based on Adamu-Abubakar’s impressive track record and a shared vision for unity and economic recovery in the state.

“Adamu-Abubakar is a distinguished public servant with national and international experience. Nasarawa stands to benefit from his leadership through lasting peace and socio-economic growth,” Akaro-Mainoma said.

Guest speaker, Musa Husseini, praised the former IGP’s inclusive leadership style, commitment to justice, grassroots engagement, and respect for human dignity — values he said have earned Adamu broad acceptance across party lines.

Also speaking, Hon. Sarki Dahiru, SDP member representing Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency, described the endorsement as a commendable move that prioritizes the state’s progress over party affiliations.

In his response, Adamu-Abubakar expressed deep gratitude for the show of support from his local government and beyond. He noted that consultations are ongoing and called on supporters to remain peaceful and respect INEC guidelines as the campaign season has not officially begun.

The event concluded with the symbolic presentation of traditional regalia to the aspirant by representatives of various ethnic groups in recognition of his endorsement.
