The Idoma Hall of Fame has honoured the late Pastor Inalegwu Omakwu, popularly known as Pastor Ina, for his contributions to Christian ministry, humanitarian service and the development of the Idoma nation.
Omakwu, founder of Family Worship Centre, Abuja, was among distinguished personalities inducted on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Peachvine Marquee Wedding and Event Centre, Wuye, Abuja.
The recognition celebrates his legacy of faith, compassion and practical service, particularly his commitment to vulnerable people.
A native of Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, Omakwu grew up in Kaduna, where his passion for Christianity and leadership developed.
Beyond preaching, he supported missionaries, widows and orphans and used radio, television and film to spread the Christian message.
In 1997, he spearheaded World Reach Nigeria in partnership with the Christian Broadcasting Network, expanding gospel outreach, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
Pastor Ina was remembered for his humility, generosity and personal commitment to helping others. He was also known for resolving family disputes, supporting people in need and encouraging fellow ministers.
Despite being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, he continued his pastoral work for a period after receiving treatment in the United States.
He died on February 25, 2003, aged 44, leaving behind his wife, Pastor Sarah Omakwu, their three children and a congregation committed to sustaining his vision.
The Hall of Fame honour recognises his enduring contributions to Christian evangelism, humanitarian service and the Idoma community.
