Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have foiled a child trafficking attempt in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area, rescuing three minors and arresting a female suspect.
Police spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Friday, confirmed that the suspect, identified as Aisha Hashiru, was apprehended at Orange Market after allegedly abducting the children from their mother’s residence.

According to Nansel, Hashiru lured the victims with promises of biscuits before whisking them away. She was, however, caught by members of the public who nearly subjected her to mob justice before police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Mararaba ‘A’ Division, swiftly intervened.
The suspect has confessed to the crime during preliminary interrogation, the statement noted.
Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for further investigation.
He also ordered intensified efforts to trace other cases of missing children and to step up the fight against human trafficking across the 13 local government areas of the state.
