The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has arrested two suspects over an alleged robbery, vehicle theft and attempted disposal of a stolen car in Lafia.
The suspects were arrested on August 21, 2026, at a mechanic workshop along Secretariat Road, Shabu, Lafia North Development Area.
The Command’s Public Relations and Strategic Communications Officer, SC Jerry Victor, disclosed this while parading the suspects on behalf of the State Commandant, Brah Samson-Umoru.
Victor said the arrests followed credible intelligence and sustained efforts by NSCDC operatives.
He said the suspects were intercepted while allegedly attempting to dispose of the suspected stolen vehicle at the mechanic workshop.
The suspects were identified as Adamu Mohammed, 68, and Emmanuel Omaku, 32.
The command also mentioned Bello Usman, 21; Ahmad Haruna Wakili, 29, popularly known as “Babson”; Umar Ibrahim Mohammed, 22; and Abass Ibrahim as persons allegedly linked to the wider operation.
Victor said preliminary investigation indicated that the syndicate might be involved in motorcycle theft and alteration of motorcycle identities.
He added that the suspects were also allegedly involved in producing fraudulent ownership documents.
The spokesman said investigations were ongoing to establish the source and ownership of the recovered vehicle.
He said the command was also working to determine the roles of the suspects and other persons allegedly connected to the operation.
Victor added that efforts were underway to arrest other suspected members of the syndicate who remained at large.
He assured the public that the investigation would be conducted professionally and in accordance with the law.
He said anyone found culpable would be charged before a competent court after the investigation.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Omaku reportedly confessed to the crime in an interview with Arise News.
He pleaded with the NSCDC to temper justice with mercy.
Items recovered include a 2010 Toyota Camry, popularly known as “Camry Muscle”; two vehicle number plates, ABJ-289-CQ and LAF-761-AG; a Moniepoint ATM card; a cutlass; and N169,500 cash.
The NSCDC said it remained committed to protecting lives and property across Nasarawa State.
