Hoodlums Suspected to be political thugs have again burnt down the Lokoja campaign office of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Kogi state, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka.
It was gathered that armed thugs around 12am on Sunday invaded the campaign office located around the popular Paparanda Square in the state capital.
The arsonists set the edifice ablaze, destroying valuables, vehicles parked inside the campaign office and useful documents.
The Deputy Governorship candidate of the SDP, Hon. Sam Ranti Abenemi, who spoke to newsmen after the incident, accused members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being responsible.
According to him, one of the state governor’s Senior Special Advisers masterminded the burning of the campaign office.
“The hoodlums came in their large numbers and set all the properties in the office on fire including generators computers, campaign materials and televisions.
“SDP and its governorship candidate remain popular and everything legal will be done to stop this uncivilized attitude,” he said.
Abenemi called on SDP supporters to remain calm and law abiding.
