A man has pleaded guilty while another pleaded not guilty before the Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged unauthorised access to a First City Monument Bank (FCMB) database.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Gideon Bakpa Aghogho and Oscar Ebere Chukwuwebuka on an eight-count charge involving alleged cybercrime and unlawful supply of bank access credentials.
A third suspect, identified as Scott, was also named in the charge but remains at large.

The EFCC alleged that Aghogho supplied sensitive credentials, including the bank’s server IP and domain details, to facilitate access to its database in exchange for $15,000.
The commission further alleged that the defendants conspired to use Aghogho’s access code to gain unauthorised entry into FCMB’s Virtual Centre Platform between July 24 and 26, 2026.
The charges were filed under Sections 27 and 28(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015, as amended.
While Aghogho pleaded not guilty, Chukwuwebuka admitted the charge against him.
EFCC counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, asked the court to remand Aghogho and fix a date for trial, while seeking a review of the facts relating to Chukwuwebuka’s guilty plea.
Justice F.N. Ogazi adjourned the matter until August 27, 2026, for review of the facts and further proceedings.
The court also ordered that both defendants remain in a correctional centre pending the next hearing.
