In a bold move to curb persistent clashes between farmers and herders, the Federal Government has approved the establishment of a Mobile Police Unit and the construction of 20 blocks of police barracks in Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Senator representing Jigawa Northeast, Abdulhamid Ahmed
broke the news during the Jigawa State Government’s town hall meeting tagged Gwamnati da Jama’a in Guri town.

The senator also announced plans to build a fully equipped, one-storey police station in the area—part of a federal-state collaboration aimed at restoring lasting peace in one of Jigawa’s most fertile but conflict-prone zones.

“Guri has become a magnet for both local and foreign herders due to its vast farmland and triple farming seasons. These new security measures will ensure safety, fairness, and stability for all,” Senator Ahmed stated.

He revealed additional projects including a modern stadium with big-screen viewing for international football matches, aimed at keeping youth engaged and promoting leisure in the community.

Senator Ahmed also highlighted job placements secured for over 40 youths from Guri in national security agencies and pledged continued delivery of people-focused projects.

He urged residents to maintain peace and throw their support behind the APC and the Tinubu-Namadi administration for more development in 2027 and beyond.
