The Supreme Court of Nigeria has upheld the election of Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful winner of the Kogi State governorship election held on November 11, 2023.

The court’s unanimous judgment dismissed the appeal filed by Murtala Ajaka, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who challenged the outcome of the election.

This decision reaffirms the earlier ruling of the Court of Appeal on May 27, which had also validated Ododo’s victory.

With this final legal hurdle cleared, Governor Usman Ododo’s mandate has been solidified, paving the way for him to continue leading the State.
