The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that all internal processes arising from its governorship primary in Jigawa State have been concluded, signalling the end of post-primary disputes and the commencement of preparations for the 2027 general election.
The party said its governorship candidate, Alhaji Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, CON, alongside its candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives, has received the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination documents from the party’s national and state leadership, marking the completion of its nomination process for the 2027 polls.
The development, according to the party, closes the chapter on disagreements that trailed the primary election and paves the way for reconciliation, unity and coordinated campaigning ahead of the governorship contest.
ADC noted that, consistent with democratic practice, aspirants dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries were afforded the opportunity to seek redress through the party’s constitutionally recognised appeal mechanism. Appeal committees, it said, were constituted nationwide, including in Jigawa State, where petitions from governorship and other aspirants were considered and determined in line with the party’s rules.
With the appeal process completed and INEC nomination documents issued to the party’s candidates, the ADC said it has fulfilled all internal requirements and is now focused exclusively on building momentum for the 2027 general election.
The party called on aspirants who challenged the primary results to accept the outcome of the internal review process in the interest of party cohesion, political stability and peaceful coexistence, stressing that collective commitment would enhance its electoral prospects.
It also urged its candidates to deepen reconciliation efforts by engaging unsuccessful aspirants and other stakeholders in dialogue aimed at healing divisions, rebuilding confidence and strengthening the party’s structure across the state.
Expressing confidence in its ticket, the ADC maintained that it has presented candidates with the experience, leadership credentials and grassroots support required to mount a formidable challenge in the 2027 elections.
The party added that unity, discipline and sustained mobilisation would remain central to its strategy as political activities ahead of the general election gather pace in Jigawa State.
