A political advocacy group, Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria, has come down hard on former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose and former Senator Dino Melaye, accusing them of turning against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—the same platform that, according to the group, lifted them from obscurity to national fame.
In a strongly worded statement signed by Abubakar Muktar, the group described the duo’s recent criticisms of the PDP as “ungrateful and opportunistic,” warning that their actions amount to betraying the very foundation of their political relevance.
“Let’s not forget history,” Muktar said. “One was a bread seller, the other a taxi driver and bus conductor. Today, they parade mansions in Abuja, Dubai, and Lagos—all made possible by the platform PDP gave them. Their rise is a story written by this party.”
The group said while constructive criticism is welcome, malicious attacks from beneficiaries of the system are unacceptable.
“Men who once knelt before the PDP for tickets now stand tall only to throw stones. That is not just disloyal—it is dishonourable.”
Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria warned that history does not forget those who turn their backs on the institutions that shaped them, noting that political opportunism often ends in regret.
“The PDP is not perfect. No party is. But it remains the most national, inclusive, and people-driven platform Nigeria has ever had. It won’t be destroyed by political wanderers chasing relevance.”
The statement ended with a call for unity and discipline within the party, adding that reckless commentary and personal vendettas will not be allowed to derail the PDP’s future.
