In a bold move to reinforce the fight against crime and enhance public safety, the Kogi State Government has handed over 16 refurbished operational vehicles to security agencies operating within the state.

The presentation, which took place on Thursday in Lokoja, was a significant step in Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s strategic plan to strengthen the state’s security architecture and ensure the protection of lives and property across all communities.

Representing the Governor at the event, Mrs. Funmilayo Bello, Administrative Officer at the Office of the Director General, Government House Administration, declared the gesture as a clear demonstration of the government’s resolve to tackle insecurity head-on. “This initiative reflects Governor Ododo’s firm commitment to the safety and welfare of Kogi residents,” she said. “Security is the foundation for development, and we are determined to provide the tools our security operatives need to succeed.”

The refurbished vehicles were described as mission-critical assets that will improve the response time, mobility, and effectiveness of the security forces across the state.

Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Air Vice Marshal Faruk Omeiza (Rtd), commended the Governor for his visionary leadership and support for security institutions. “This is not just a presentation of vehicles. It is a bold statement that Kogi is serious about security. These vehicles will empower our security personnel to protect our people better,” he stated.

Receiving the keys on behalf of the state’s security agencies, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Daba Mallam, expressed deep appreciation, noting that the donation would enhance patrol capabilities and crime prevention efforts. “This support is timely, and we assure the government that these vehicles will be used responsibly and effectively,” he said.

Deputy Commandant of the NSCDC, Idonie Felix, also hailed the intervention, stressing that it would boost the morale and operational readiness of officers. “We remain committed to our mandate and pledge to protect Kogi citizens with renewed vigor,” he added.

Representatives from the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, and the Kogi State Vigilante Service echoed similar sentiments, lauding the Ododo administration for its proactive approach and pledging continued collaboration for a safer state.

In a show of corporate partnership, Yunusa Jimoh of Access Bank reaffirmed the institution’s support for the government’s security initiatives, signaling a growing synergy between the public and private sectors in advancing security goals.

The event climaxed with the symbolic handover of the vehicles—each freshly refurbished and fitted for field operations—marking another milestone in the Ododo administration’s determined push to secure every inch of Kogi State.

With this latest intervention, the message from the Kogi State Government is loud and clear: crime has no place in Kogi, and the tools to fight it are now stronger than ever.
