The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Jigawa has arrested three suspects and seized controlled drugs worth over N2.6 billion in one of its largest operations to date.
The state commandant, Mr. Musa Maina, told journalists in Dutse on Monday that the suspects—Jamilu Muhammad, Abba Ibrahim, and Shuaibu Umar—were nabbed in a three-day sting operation spanning Jigawa and Kano.
The operation led to the interception of a Toyota Sienna and an 18-seater Hummer bus, both packed with 118.6 tons of Tramadol tablets and 195.3 kg of Pregabalin capsules, reportedly destined for distribution across Jigawa, Yobe, Bauchi, and parts of Niger Republic.
Maina noted that the success followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
He described the bust as the command’s biggest achievement in the fight against drug trafficking in the state, adding that further investigations are ongoing to expose the drug network’s masterminds.
