In a bid to enhance bilateral ties, Nigeria and Bangladesh have opened discussions on defense collaboration, military integration into civilian sectors, and agricultural development, signaling a new era of strategic partnership.

According to a statement by Comrade Mati Ali, Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Minister of Defense, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, the cooperation aims to expand military roles beyond combat, ensuring personnel contribute to national growth through sectors like agriculture, construction, and infrastructure.

The discussions took place during a courtesy visit by Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mansur Rahman, to the Defense Minister at Ship House, Abuja.
Rahman expressed strong support for the initiative, emphasizing that military engagement in civilian activities fosters economic stability and sustainable development.

Additionally, he highlighted how defense cooperation could boost Nigeria’s blue economy, aligning with the Ministry of Defense’s vision for innovative strategies that enhance national prosperity and military welfare.

This collaboration is expected to strengthen both nations’ military capabilities while opening new frontiers for economic and technological exchange.
