Edo Central came alive over the weekend as Governor Monday Okpebholo was warmly received by the Esan people in a grand homecoming reception held at the Esan Central Local Government Secretariat.

The event, organized to celebrate his victory in the September 21 gubernatorial election, drew traditional rulers, party leaders, and dignitaries from across the state.

Governor Okpebholo used the occasion to address accusations of electoral malpractice from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing their claims as baseless.
He accused the PDP of fabricating election results on social media and lamented their continuous defeat.

“Those who wrote and announced fake results online are now the ones crying foul. They will continue to lose while wasting their resources on futile efforts,” Okpebholo declared.
He thanked Edo citizens for their unwavering support, attributing his success to their collective will and the steadfast leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the APC.

Okpebholo pledged to prioritize justice, equity, and development:
“I will not disappoint the people of Edo. We are on a path of peace, unity, and growth, and I will ensure our people reap the benefits of good governance.”
The Onojie of Uromi, His Royal Highness Anselm Aidenojie II, expressed pride in Governor Okpebholo’s victory, emphasizing the unity of the Esan people in achieving this milestone.
“We thank the Oba of Benin and all those who supported us. We believe our governor will bring the dividends of democracy to all Edo people,” he said.

APC State Chairman, Emperor Jarret Tenebe lauded Okpebholo’s swift actions since his inauguration, stating:
“Governor Okpebholo has already hit the ground running, resuming from where Comrade Adams Oshiomhole stopped. Edo is on a new path of progress.”
The event was attended by traditional rulers from across Edo Central, Secretary to the State Government Barr. Musa Ikhilor, Chief of Staff Gani Audu, members of the Edo State House of Assembly, and other high-ranking officials.

Governor Okpebholo’s victory celebration not only highlighted his widespread support but also reinforced the commitment of the Esan people to his administration’s vision for development and prosperity.
