The campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term bid has unofficially kicked off in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, as the city has been overtaken by a flood of campaign posters and billboards.
Massive posters bearing the slogan “Tinubu Continuity 2027” were seen at nearly every major junction, road, and street in the city, signaling the beginning of a push for the President’s re-election.
Dozens of giant billboards and thousands of mini-posters featured President Tinubu alongside Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, advocating for continuity in governance.
While there has been no official statement from the All Progressives Congress (APC) or any of the President’s support groups, the widespread display suggests strong backing from political loyalists or government-aligned campaigners.
Reacting to the development, a resident of Dutse, Malam Zangina Danmama, described the poster campaign as “Democracy in action.”
He said it reflects the competitive political environment and the constitutional right of every group to campaign and associate freely.
“We’ve seen APC supporters promoting their candidate. Now we’re waiting for other parties to present theirs so that people can make an informed choice,” Danmama said.
The poster campaign comes just as President Tinubu and other elected leaders approach the halfway mark of their current terms. Meanwhile, opposition parties are also ramping up their mobilization efforts, setting the stage for an intense build-up to the 2027 general elections.
