The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has lashed out at the National Working Committee of the Party over its disrespectful statement and attack on the person of Former Governor of the State, Sule Lamido.
Lamido who is one of the founding fathers of the party had cautioned the national leadership of the party and its National Working Committee(NWC) not to abdicate its responsibility over the crises between Rivers State Governor Siminalaya Fubara and his predecessor Nyesom Wike.
He said it is inconceivable that a political party will simply sit back and allow its fortunes taken over by a rapacious scavenger, the APC. “What President Tinubu did in the so-called peace meeting is not brokering peace in Rivers State, but using his office to enhance the fortunes of his political party.
Lamido spoke against the backdrop that President Bola Tinubu mediated between the duo for his own selfish agenda to the advantage of the Ruling Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In what seem like a reply to Lamido’s comments through a statement by Debo Ologunagba, its National Publicity Secretary, the party accused Lamido of working for the Ruling Party (APC) describing his comments incautious and unguarded utterances.

The statement added, “Of particular reference is the deleterious public statement credited to the former Governor of Jigawa State, His Excellency Sule Lamido, which was made apparently with the intent to inject bad blood and drag down our Party for self-seeking motives.
The Party in Jigawa in a statement which was signed by the secretary of the party in the State Isah Bello, said,

“The Jigawa State PDP chapter and all stakeholders take exception to this not so deeply thought action on our revered leader.

“We have noticed with dismay the imbroglio that is unfolding in the Rivers State PDP and the polity in general over the past few weeks.
“We have also followed with keen interest the developments that led to the opportunistic intervention of President Tinubu in the name of resolving the dispute.
“It was on this note that our Leader, Dr. Sule Lamido, as a founding father of the party, after noticing the ambivalence of our NWC, decided to show his genuine and sincere concerns by drawing its attention for immediate achon.

“Rather than heed to his fatherly counsel, the NWC, through the Nationat Publicity Secretary, decided to release a disrespectful press statement against our leader.
“Though understandably, the composition and chemistry of the NWC could be excused due to its lacuna in the historical formation of the PDP!
“The NWC members may wish to be reminded that some elders took a lot of risks, including going to prison for them to occupy the positions they are now enjoying. inferring that our Dr Sule Lamido is working for APC is a joke taken too far!
“We in Jigawa have been brought to always fight for the cause of the common man and justice. Struggle for this cause is in our political DNA. We shall stop at nothing in defence of our leader.

“The primary function or duty of the NWC is to serve, protect and promote the fortunes of our great party, not to offer means of livelihood. We urge the members of NWC to heed the counsel given by Dr Sule Lamido.
