FUL 2 Best Graduating Students get Faleke cash gift of N1m each

Management of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has presented a cheque of N1 million each to the two Best Graduating Students of the University who emerged at the 6th and 7th combined convocation for 2020/2021 and 2021/2022.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi who presented the cheques at a brief ceremony on Monday in Lokoja commended the beneficiaries for their dedication which culminated in their outstanding performances and the gifts.

The students are Zafirah Eneyamire Isah of the Department of Chemistry as Best Graduating Student for 2020/2021 and Mariam Oiza Ibrahim, Department of Economic, 2021/2022.

Prof. Akinwumi said the cash gift was the redemption of a pledge by Rt. Hon. Dr James Abiodun Faleke, Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Finance, during the just concluded 6th and 7th combined convocation of the institution.

The Vice Chancellor commended Hon. Faleke for fulfilling his promise, pointing out that the reward would serve as challenge to other students to work hard.

He also charged well meaning Nigerians to support educational institutions and come up with good initiatives to help the universities and students to advance scholarship and educational development.

Akinwumi challenged male students of the institution to sit up and work hard saying that the emergence of the two beneficiaries of the cash gifts who were females should pose a challenge to the males to strive for academic laurels.

He however, urged the beneficiaries to guard against spending the money on frivolities, but should rather use the money to pursue their Post Graduate degrees.

To he Vice Chancellor noted that aside offering admission to best graduating students, it was also a policy of the University to offer employment to best Post Graduate Students of the University.

In her remarks, Zafirah Eneyamire Isah Best Graduating Student 2020/2021 who was overwhelmed with joy, prayed God to reward the donor, Hon. Faleke for his magnanimity and promised judicious utilization of the money.

Also in her response, Mariam Oiza Ibrahim, Best Graduating Student 2021/2022, could not hide her joy as she stressed that she would further her studies with the money and commended Hon. Faleke for the gesture. (Ends)
