    APC loses three senatorial seats to opposition in Nasarawa

    The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has lost three of its senatorial seats to Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

    The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, declared that Senator Umaru Al-Makura of APC representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District lost to Mohammed Onawo of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 76,813 votes against 93,064 votes.

    The INEC returning officer, Prof. Ahmed Yakubu, announced the result in Lafia.

    Also, Senator Godiya Akwashiki of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was declared winner of the Saturday’s election for Nasarawa North Senatorial District with 44,471 votes.

    The INEC returning officer, Prof. Ilemona Adofu said Akwashiki defeated the former executive secretary, National Judicial Commission (NJC), Danladi Envuluanza of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) who scored 32,058 votes.

    He said the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scored 11,212 votes, New Nigeria Peoples Party got 4,083 votes and All Progressives Grand Alliance picked 1,455 votes, among others.

    INEC also declared Hon. Ahmed Wadada of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) winner of the Nasarawa West Senatorial District election, home of the APC National chairman Abdullahi Adamu,

    INEC returning officer, Associate Prof. Nasirudeen Baba, said Wadada polled a total of 96,488 votes as against the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Shehu Tukur who scored 47,717 votes.

    Baba added that Musa Galadima of PDP scored 46,820 votes while Mr Bala Tongurma got 33,228 votes.

    “Wadada Ahmed of SDP having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” he said.

    Also, for Lafia/Obi federal constituency Hon. Sarki Dahiru of the SDP was declared winner of the election, with 37,469 votes, against Ahmed Dallah of PDP who scored 36,067, while Mohammed Al-Makura of APC scored 35,400.

    In Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal constituency, Hon. Jonathan Gaza, of SDP was declared winner with a total vote of 60,265, to defeat his closest rival Mr. Bulus Ishaku of PDP scored 33,180, Labour Party’s Mr. Iliya Gambo scored 29,665 votes while that of the APC Mr Auta Koro scored 28,417 votes.

    Meanwhile, Mr. Umaru Jeremiah of All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared as winner of the Akwanga/ Wamba/ Nassarawa Eggon federal constituency with 38,430 votes.

    He defeated the incumbent member representing the constituency, Abdulkarim Usman of PDP who scored 19, 681 votes.
