    International Day for PWDs: 4,000 PWDs benefit from Free Medical Care in Jigawa

    About 4,000 Persons With Disability (PWDs) have benefitted from the free medical service being delivered in JIgawa state by the state government.

    This was disclosed by the northwest vice chairman of the Persons With Disabilities (PWD) association, Comrade Muhammad Usman in his speech at the commemoration of tge International Day for Persons With Disabilities at the NUT state secretariat Dutse, Jigawa state capital.

    Comrade Usman explained that “Jigawa state is the first in northern Nigeria to sign the disability law since 2017 ahead of that of the national disability act that was signed in 2018 adding that the law has a lot of provisions to support the livelihood of PWDs”.

    The national vice chairman said  the JIgawa state Association of Persorns With Disabilities is leading in terms of prosperity and development in northern Nigeria.

    Usman said some of the achievements of the the State government included, the social security allowance, free education policy for persons with disabilities and their children, inclusive education frame work and establishment of disability desk offices across the MDAs.

    Acording to him, they have also benefitted from the “free medical care services being given to over 4,000 persons with disabilities, establishment of Jigawa disability fund and above all signing of disability law respectively”.

    He indicated that the support they have received included in the area of education, health, employment, empowerment as well as political inclusion and protection against any form of discrimination.

    He further explained that the disability community in the state is being supported to attend local, national and international conferences across the globe.
