The spokesman, of the Kogi State police command, SP William Aya in a statement confirmed the attack on the station.

According to him, the gunmen swooped on the station from the rear shooting sporadically.

However, Aya indicated that the hoodlums were repelled by the men on duty and operatives of the Quick Response Unit who were on special operations at the local government.
On a sad note however, he said the Command lost three of it’s officers during the gun duel, while the hoodlums fled with gun shot wounds as they could not get access to the station.

He said the operatives of the command are on the trail of the hoodlums with a view to apprehending and bringing them to book.

The statement urged the people of Adavi and the adjoining communities to be on the lookout and report anybody seen with bullet wounds to the police or any other security forces nearest to them.
The statement quoted Egbuka to have directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Investigation to commence investigation into the incident.
