    Nasarawa govt begins implementation of $20million NG-CARES program

    The Nasarawa state government has commenced the full implementation of Nigeria Covid19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus, NG-CARES program in the state.

    The state Coordinator of the program, Mr. Umar Dahiru said on Friday in Lafia that the program is meant to cushion the effect of Covid19 on livelihood and business of vulnerable persons.

    “Already N1.1billion has been released for the commencement of the implementation. The duration of the program is two years.

    “The NG-CARES is a state focused program developed by a tripartite agreement by the World bank, the federal and state governments to combat the economic effect of Covid19 pandemic specifically for the poor and vulnerable.

    “It is all in the spirit of building an inclusive society that is founded on Tue principles of uplifting the status of extremely poor members of our society to a better living standard supplying sustainable livelihood”, Dahiru said.

    He stated that the implementation will cut across the seven key intervention areas focusing on agriculture and livelihood support.

    The seven key interventions according to Dahiru include the state transfer cash unit, the community and social development agency, state fadama coordinator office, all local government areas of the state.

    The coordinator however explained that the project implementation would also cut across the thirteen local governments in the state.

    Dahiru urged all communities and key stake holders to support and cooperate with staff of the NG-CARES program as implementation commences.
