Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has condemned reported political intimidation and violence in Enugu State, demanding an immediate investigation into alleged politically motivated killings and prosecution of anyone found responsible.
In a statement on Sunday, its spokesman, Idris Zekeri Jnr, challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to defend its record in office rather than allow political competition to degenerate into violence.
“If the APC has accomplishments to present, it should disclose them to Nigerians. If it enjoys the people’s confidence, it should face them at the ballot box,” the statement said.
POMR insisted that political parties should win voters’ confidence through performance and credible policies, not threats, intimidation or bloodshed.
It warned that the reported violence in Enugu demanded a thorough investigation, not political denials or attempts to conceal the truth.
The organisation urged security agencies to investigate all credible allegations of politically motivated killings, threats and attacks in the state impartially and without political interference.
It also demanded that investigators identify those who allegedly ordered, financed or carried out the attacks and prosecute anyone found culpable.
POMR stressed that public office and political influence must not shield anyone from justice.
“No governor is above the law, no political party owns the state, and no political aspiration can justify the loss of even one Nigerian life,” the statement declared.
The organisation urged electoral and law enforcement authorities to protect opposition candidates and supporters and prevent political violence from undermining democratic participation.
It said victims and their families deserved justice, while the public deserved transparent answers about the reported incidents.
POMR also urged Nigerians to resist political intimidation through lawful, peaceful and democratic means, insisting that citizens must not surrender their constitutional rights to threats.
“Our message is clear: account for your record, answer for your conduct, and face the Nigerian people—not the barrel of a gun,” the statement added.
The organisation maintained that elections must be decided by voters, not violence, warning against attempts to suppress democratic rights through political intimidation.
