PRP Chairman Predicts Tinubu’s Defeat in Credible 2027 Election

The National Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will lose the 2027 presidential election if the poll is free and fair.

Baba-Ahmed made the claim while speaking on a television programme, saying Nigerians who are unhappy with the government should be allowed to express their views through the ballot.

“If it is a credible, free and fair election, I assure you Tinubu will lose,” he said.

He argued that the opposition does not necessarily need a formal coalition to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Baba-Ahmed cited the recent Osun State governorship election as an example, saying opposition parties defeated the APC despite contesting separately.

“We didn’t see a coalition or collaboration—a gang-up against APC. The parties all competed against each other. And yet APC was defeated,” he said.

He rejected claims that the APC’s defeat in Osun was linked to any political understanding between Tinubu and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The PRP chairman said the outcome showed that the opposition could also defeat the APC at the national level if the election process was credible.

“There are millions of Nigerians who are very, very angry. They desperately want an opportunity to express their anger through their ballot,” he said.

His comments come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties preparing for the campaign season.

Baba-Ahmed said opposition parties could cooperate where necessary but maintained that a formal coalition may not be required to challenge the APC.
