Federal Capital Territory Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has emphasized that healthcare lies at the heart of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, calling it a central driver of national development and well-being.
Speaking at the inaugural National Health Convention and Round Table 1.0, organized by the APC Medical Council at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, Dr. Mahmoud highlighted ongoing initiatives to revitalize primary healthcare, expand health insurance coverage, improve health financing, and enhance workforce welfare across the FCT.
Her Special Adviser on Media, Austin Elemue in a statement quoted her to have praised the APC Medical Council for convening the event, describing it as aligned with the party’s vision of people-centered governance and sustainable development.
“The APC-led administration, under President Tinubu, continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and improving the health of Nigerians,” she said.
Dr. Mahmoud urged participants to focus on practical, actionable solutions that improve PHC, maternal and child health outcomes, and tackle persistent challenges in the sector. She stressed the importance of accelerating progress toward Universal Health Coverage through coordinated and collaborative efforts.
She reaffirmed the government’s dedication, noting that substantial resources are being committed to strengthening the FCT healthcare system, spanning Abuja city and surrounding satellite towns.
“Supported fully by President Tinubu, our goal is to ensure accessible, quality, and equitable healthcare for all residents,” she said.
The Minister called on all stakeholders to translate discussions into measurable actions that positively impact communities, emphasizing that policy must lead to tangible results on the ground.
