Body of Missing 20-Year-Old Student Found in Kogi Community

A 20-year-old female student who was earlier reported missing has been found dead in a bush along the Okene–Lokoja highway in Kogi State, sparking renewed concerns over security in the area.
The victim, identified by family members as Suleiman Rahama Onono, was a student of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Okene. She was last seen on Saturday, January 24, after which all attempts to reach her proved unsuccessful.
Her body was discovered on Monday at Eika-Adagu community following search efforts by relatives, supported by local security operatives.
Police officers evacuated the remains from the scene and deposited them at the Okengwe General Hospital morgue, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted as investigations continue.
Family members and members of the college community described the discovery as devastating, noting that Rahama’s disappearance had triggered days of anxious searching and widespread concern.
Residents of Camp 2, where the body was found, expressed fear and frustration over what they described as worsening insecurity in the area. They called on authorities to strengthen security presence and provide infrastructure such as street lighting to deter criminal activity.
Community leaders said the location has recorded several violent incidents in recent years, including attacks on commercial motorcycle operators, raising questions about the safety of commuters and residents along the corridor.
Police authorities have yet to issue an official statement on arrests, but investigations are ongoing.
