The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has lauded the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS) for recent security successes, particularly the rescue of 70 kidnapped victims during operations against bandits in the state.
Sarkin-Daji gave the commendation following a coordinated security operation in Mariga Local Government Area, his constituency, which he described as a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against banditry and other criminal activities.
In a statement issued in Minna by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations of the House, Mairo Adamu Mani, the Speaker praised the professionalism, bravery, and commitment of security personnel involved in the operation.
He noted that the exercise not only led to the safe rescue of abducted victims but also dealt a significant blow to criminal networks operating in the area, helping to restore confidence among residents who had lived under persistent security threats.
Sarkin-Daji acknowledged the risks faced by security operatives, expressing deep appreciation to officers and men who, he said, continue to put their lives on the line to ensure peace, stability, and the safety of citizens across the state.
“This decisive action has weakened criminal activities in the area and brought relief to communities that have been under siege for some time,” he said, urging the security agencies to sustain the momentum.
The Speaker assured the Army and DSS of the state government’s continued support, stressing that their sacrifices would not be in vain. He reaffirmed the government’s readiness to provide the necessary backing to strengthen security operations, particularly in troubled communities such as Mariga.
According to him, the Niger State Government remains fully committed to working closely with all security agencies and relevant stakeholders to address lingering security challenges across the state.
Sarkin-Daji also appealed to residents to support security efforts by providing credible information, while urging them to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, assuring that the protection of lives and property remains the government’s top priority.
