The Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has praised the governors of the South-South region for their hard work and good leadership as the region marks Democracy Day 2025.

In a statement by PANDEF’s National Chairman, Ambassador Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali, the group thanked Governors Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Prince Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), and Similayi Fubara (Rivers) for improving roads, bridges, cities, farming, and ports in the region.

PANDEF also praised Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa and Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo for their efforts, especially since they both took office recently.

The group said these projects are helping to connect communities and grow the economy. They are also making life better through better schools, hospitals, and working conditions for civil servants.

However, PANDEF said more work still needs to be done. They called for more teamwork among the states. The group asked the governors to work closely through the BRACED Commission and create strong economic links across the region.

PANDEF also mentioned the political problems in Rivers State but said it believes peace will return soon so that development can continue.

Ambassador Igali asked traditional rulers, elders, and citizens to support the governors and pray for the region’s growth and unity.

As the South-South marks this year’s Democracy Day, PANDEF said it is hopeful the region will continue to be a model of peace, unity, and development for the whole country.
