For 801 underprivileged students across Jigawa State, a new door to opportunity has just opened—thanks to the newly launched Danmodi Students Care scholarship, a special initiative unveiled by Governor Malam Umar Namadi to support brilliant but financially constrained youths in pursuit of higher education.

Launched at the Government House Banquet Hall in Dutse, the scholarship targets students studying Medicine, Engineering, Health Sciences, Agriculture, and select Arts and Social Science disciplines.
Many of the beneficiaries hail from rural communities, with some already enrolled under the Women for Health program.

“This scholarship is about giving every child a fair shot at success—regardless of where they come from or their parents’ income level,” Governor Namadi declared. “Education remains the heart of our vision. These students are not just beneficiaries—they are the future of Jigawa.”

The governor noted that this special scheme supplements the state’s existing scholarship program, which currently supports over 36,000 students, adding that his administration has increased scholarship funding by 150% this year alone to ease the burden of registration fees.

At the launch event, Comrade Salisu Muhammad Seeker, Special Adviser on Student Affairs and President of Danmodi Students Care, described the initiative as a “life-changing intervention” for students who would otherwise be left behind.

“For the 2024/2025 session, we helped over 1,000 students gain admission into tertiary institutions. Out of these, 400 were selected based on merit and need for this scholarship,” he said. “And we’re not just paying tuition—we’re providing welfare support and academic guidance from start to finish.”

He added that the program reflects Governor Namadi’s deep commitment to inclusive education, especially for rural and underserved communities.

For many of the beneficiaries, this scholarship is more than financial aid—it is the beginning of a brighter future.
