The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Command has commenced investigation into the alleged attack on the family House of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
A statement signed by SP William Ovye Aya, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command said the investigation followed the receipt of a report that the house was attacked by some unknown hoodlums.
Aya said that a distress call from one Yakubu Ovanja, an aide to Senator Natasha on April 16, at about 0330hrs was received by the Divisional Police Officer, attached to Okehi Division.
Ovanja had stated that on the same date at about 1am, some hoodlums numbering about three, armed with cutlasses, invaded the family house of the Senator and damaged some front window glasses.
According to Aya, consequent upon the distress call received from Ovanja, the DPO mobilized his men to the scene for on the spot assessment.
He said, “Immediately the information was received by the DPO, he mobilized his men for on the spot assessment where he met a young man named Michael Akpoti in the house.”
The PPRO explained that Mr Michael narrated how the hoodlums used cutlasses to damage the said building while trying to gain access into the house before he raised alarm which made the hoodlums to flee.
In view of the above, CP Miller Dantawaye, the Commissioner of Police in state, has directed the DCP in-charge of Criminal Investigations Department to commence “immediate and discrete investigation” into the alleged attack.
The CP’s directive according to the PPRO, is to enable the command ascertain the cause of the alleged attack with a view to apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice. (Ends)
