The Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Bida, Rt. Rev. Jonah Kolo, has commended Niger State Governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago, for promoting religious tolerance and unity in the state. The Bishop praised the governor’s inclusive leadership style, describing it as a beacon of peace and justice across religious lines.
Bishop Kolo gave the commendation while receiving a delegation from the state government, led by Hon. Jonathan Vatsa, who paid him a condolence visit following the passing of his mother, Late Mama Elizabeth Aishatu Kolo.
He noted that Governor Bago has remained faithful to his campaign promises by ensuring equity, fairness, and justice for both Christians and Muslims in the state.
“Since he assumed office, there has been visible peace and harmony across the state,” Bishop Kolo said. “He has shown that leadership is about everyone—regardless of tribe, religion, or political affiliation.”
The Bishop lauded the governor for carrying all faiths along in governance, stating that the Christian community feels seen and respected under Bago’s administration. He assured the governor of continued prayers and support, emphasizing that the governor is on the right path in his developmental efforts.
In a condolence message presented by Hon. Vatsa, Governor Bago described Mama Elizabeth as a woman of faith and grace whose life was marked by service and compassion. “Her enthusiasm for life and service to others was truly infectious,” the letter read.
The visit was not just a gesture of sympathy, but also a reaffirmation of the governor’s commitment to unity and religious harmony in Niger State.
