The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has condemned the gruesome killing of Northern travelers in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State. He has urged security agencies to take immediate action to arrest those responsible and ensure justice is served.

According to reports, a mob intercepted a group of Hausa hunters traveling to Kano for the Sallah celebrations, forcefully searched their vehicle, and brutally murdered them. The incident has sparked outrage across the country, with calls for urgent intervention.

Describing the killings as an attack on human dignity and the unity of Nigeria, Senator Barau called on the Edo State Police Command and other security agencies to act swiftly in tracking down the perpetrators. He also reassured Nigerians that the government would not allow such acts of violence to go unpunished.

“I have received distressing calls from my constituents and concerned Nigerians over this tragic event. I strongly condemn this senseless act and call on security agencies to ensure that those behind it are held accountable,” he said in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir.

He further emphasized the need for unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, urging citizens to see one another as brothers and sisters, regardless of ethnic or regional differences.

As part of efforts to seek justice, the Deputy Senate President announced plans to sponsor a motion in the Senate to ensure that the matter is thoroughly investigated and necessary actions are taken.

Senator Barau extended his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the repose of their souls, urging the affected communities to remain calm as justice takes its course.
