Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has demanded that her appearance before the Senate Ethics and Disciplinary Committee be broadcast live, insisting on full transparency in the proceedings.
Her referral to the committee follows a dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the unauthorized change of her seating position in the Senate chamber.
In a statement posted on her social media platforms on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan stated that Nigerians have a right to witness the process and should not be kept in the dark about the Senate’s internal affairs.
“I have deliberately remained silent on this issue and other matters in the Senate, but now is the time to speak.
I will not allow this probe to take place behind closed doors,” she wrote.
She further called on Arise News to schedule an interview, pledging to answer all questions openly.
Emphasizing the importance of the coming days, the Kogi Central senator urged Nigerians to stay engaged, stating that the outcome of this probe could set a precedent for accountability and leadership standards in the country.
Her demand for transparency highlights growing concerns about internal legislative decisions and the treatment of lawmakers within the National Assembly.
