The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Kogi East, Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji, has officially resigned from the party, citing persistent internal disputes.
In a letter addressed to Hon. Suleiman Unekwo Bala, the PDP Chairman of Okula Aloma Ward in Ofu Local Government Area, Adoji expressed gratitude for his time in the party while lamenting the deep-seated factionalism affecting PDP’s structure.
“Looking at prevailing tendencies and how they have now found a perfect medium in factionalized and sectionalized alliances, I have reached the inevitable decision to resign my membership of the PDP, effective immediately,” Adoji stated.
While his next political move remains undisclosed, Adoji hinted at the possibility of a fresh political alignment, emphasizing the need for a platform that guarantees unity, progress, and a shared vision for development.
He, however, reassured his former party members that his resignation was not an end to their personal relationships, adding that he hopes their “rapport, regard, and reverence” will continue beyond politics.
Adoji, a banker-turned-politician, had contested under PDP’s banner in the 2023 general elections but lost to Jibrin Isah (Echocho) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His exit signals yet another shift in the political landscape of Kogi East, where party realignments are becoming increasingly common.
