In a timely and lifesaving intervention, Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has opened a crucial 5km alternative route through Nyamanyama Village along the Ganaja–Ajaokuta road. This strategic bypass will serve as a vital detour for motorists facing impassable conditions on the Ganaja road due to severe flooding.

Governor Ododo’s swift response highlights his administration’s proactive stance on tackling the devastating flood situation affecting communities across the state.
By ensuring that commuters and travelers have access to this alternative route, the governor has demonstrated his commitment to public safety and reducing the hardships faced by residents during this challenging period.

The directive to the Kogi Flood Disaster Response Team, led by Deputy Governor Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo, to construct the bypass comes at a critical time, as severe flooding continued to wreak havoc, submerging properties and displacing communities.
The 5km road will provide a much-needed relief route, ensuring that essential travel and economic activities are not brought to a standstill.

Despite ongoing calls for federal assistance from Kogi State’s Commissioner for Information, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, Governor Ododo’s administration has taken decisive and independent measures to protect the state’s citizens.
The swift establishment of the alternative route showcases the government’s focus on immediate, practical solutions to minimize the impacts of the flood.

Ododo’s quick action reinforces his administration’s commitment to good governance, as Kogi State continues to navigate one of the most severe flooding events in recent history. His leadership during this crisis is a beacon of hope, proving that even in the face of disaster, responsive and effective governance can make all the difference.
