    FG, NAPRI, trains 50 Kogi Youths, Women in poultry farming

    FEDERAL Ministry of Agriculture/Food Security in collaboration with National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), Zaria,a has trained 50 youths and women from Kogi State in Poultry Value Chain Agricultural Empowernment.

    The training which drew 50 participants from across Kogi Central Senatorial District was organized in conjunction with Hauge Logistics Limited in Okene, Kogi State.

    The programme falls under the 2024 Federal Government sponsored training and empowerment of youths and women in Poultry Production Value Chain in Kogi and Rivers States.

    Dr Oloruntoba Ayinla of Hauge Logistics, speaking at the end of the three-day empowerment programme at Afims Hotels, Okene, commended the participants for their patience and attention during the training.

    Dr Ayinla urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the skills acquired and judiciously utilize the empowerment items given each of them to start a poultry business with the hope that it would impact their lives positively.

    Also speaking, Mallam Musa Abdulazeez on behalf of Ozomata Foundation, Facilitator of the training programme, assured the beneficiaries that the Foundation was working hard to put smile on the faces of the people of the district.

    Earlier in his welcome address, Alhaji Dahiru Shehu, representative of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture/Food Security, hinted that each participant would be given a carton of a day old chicks, feeds, vaccines and cash to kick start the poultry business.

    Alhaji Shehu who expressed his gratitude to all the stakeholders over the successful completion of the training programme cautioned the beneficiaries against selling the items given to them.

    One of the participants, Mallam Abdullahi Hussein who spoke on behalf of other participants commended the Federal Government, the facilitator of the programme and the resource persons for their efforts.

    He promised that the empowerment items given to them would be used judiciously for them to own businesses, boost their economic power and improve their living standard.

    Mallam Hussein also pledged that, for their own good, none of them would sell off the items. (Ends)
