    FUL matriculates 4,347 students, emphasizes discipline, warns against social vices

    Federal University Lokoja (FUL) Tuesday matriculated 4, 347 newly admitted students for the 2022/2023 academic session with a charge on them to uphold discipline and ethical values of the institution.

    Prof. Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, superintended over the Matriculation ceremony held at the Adankolo campus of the University in Lokoja.

    He warned the students to steer clear of all social vices including cultism, drugs and examination malpractice and admonished them to take their studies seriously.

    “Today marks the beginning of a transformative chapter in your lives, and I assure you that the Federal University Lokoja community is here to support and guide you every step of the way to fulfill your divine destiny.

    “The record before me shows that a total number of 4,347 students are matriculating for the 2022/2023 academic session across six (6) faculties including College of Health Sciences.

    “This matriculation oath taken means you have embraced the university’s values and ethos, which signifies your commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and the pursuit of knowledge

    “At Federal University Lokoja, our mission is to provide quality education, foster critical thinking, and produce well-rounded graduates who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to society.

    “This is because our vision is to be the best among the nine newly established Federal Universities in Nigeria in 2011 and one of the top 10 universities in Africa.

    “To become a world-class University recognized for excellence in teaching, research and community engagement,” he said.

    Akinwumi noted that those guiding principles serve as the compass, driving the institution towards academic innovation, social responsibility and transformative impact which required the students to take their lectures and academic activities seriously.

    The Vice Chancellor advised them against social vices and them to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the University.

    He also urged them to respect the Code of Conduct, honour academic integrity and treat fellow students, faculty and staff members with dignity and kindness.

    Akinwumi reminded the students that discipline and ethical behavior formed the bedrock of a thriving academic community, which Federal University Lokoja upholds those values and expects every student to do the same.

    The Vice Chancellor warned the students against membership of all unregistered clubs and associations as well as indecent dressing among others saying the university would not hesitate to sanction deviants. (Ends)
