Jordan Wike, son of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday produced his American passport before an FCT High Court in Abuja as the court continued hearing a suit over an alleged $2.1 million land transaction.
The passport was presented following an order by Justice Sylvanus Oriji after Jordan told the court during cross-examination that he was outside Nigeria on the date the claimants alleged that the money was handed to him.
The suit, filed by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited, centres on allegations that Jordan received $2.1 million to facilitate the acquisition of 60 hectares of land in Katampe and Guzape, Abuja.
The claimants allege that the money comprised $2 million allegedly meant for the FCT minister and $100,000 allegedly for Jordan.
They further allege that the money was delivered in cash on September 26, 2025, in the presence of Adamu Sani, Aliyu Sarki, Sai Wani and Onor Sandy.
Jordan has denied the allegations and maintained that he had no knowledge of the alleged transaction.
During cross-examination by the claimants’ counsel, Hamza Dantani, Jordan said he was outside Nigeria on the date in question and had travelled with his American passport.
His response prompted an application by Dantani for an order compelling him to produce the passport in court.
Justice Oriji granted the application, leading to the production of the document on Wednesday.
The claimants allege that Jordan had promised to facilitate the acquisition of the two parcels of land after meeting them in London.
According to their account, they subsequently discovered that the proposed plots were owned by another company preparing to develop them.
They alleged that they demanded a refund after the transaction failed to materialise but received no satisfactory response, prompting them to approach the court.
Jordan, however, has rejected the claims and adopted his statement on oath denying involvement in the alleged transaction.
His counsel, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ogwu Onoja, represented him during the proceedings.
The latest development comes as the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) calls on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to independently examine the allegations.
HURIWA argues that the claims warrant scrutiny because of the amount involved and the allegation that part of the money was intended for a serving public official.
The rights group has stressed that the allegations remain unproven and that the court has yet to determine the claims against Jordan or any other person.
The case continues before Justice Oriji.
