A police corporal attached to the Dambam Division of the Bauchi State Command, Yusuf Aliyu, has resigned from the Nigeria Police Force over alleged unresolved salary access issues.
Aliyu, Force Number 524180, said he had been unable to access his salary for two years despite repeated efforts to resolve the problem.
In a resignation letter dated August 30, 2026, and addressed to the Inspector-General of Police through the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, the corporal said his resignation would take effect on September 30.
Aliyu said his salary had been processed and reflected in the system but that he had been unable to withdraw or access the money.
“I have reported the matter on numerous occasions and followed all the necessary procedures, yet the issue remains unresolved,” he stated.
According to him, the situation had caused severe financial hardship and made it difficult for him to meet his personal and family responsibilities.
He said the prolonged problem had also caused him to lose confidence in the system, prompting his decision to leave the police force.
“Consequently, I have lost confidence in the system and have decided to resign from the Nigeria Police Force,” Aliyu wrote.
The corporal thanked the police authorities for the opportunity to serve and said he would return all government property in his possession before his departure.
He also requested guidance on the required clearance and disengagement procedures.
A copy of the resignation letter has been circulating on X.
