The Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has congratulated the government and people of Kogi State on the 35th anniversary of the state’s creation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, in a statement on Thursday, said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate the state’s achievements and renew its commitment to development.
Prof. Usman, who spoke on behalf of the university’s Governing Council, Senate, management, staff and students, described Kogi as a state with rich human and natural resources and a diverse cultural heritage.
He commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his administration’s focus on infrastructure, human capital development, fiscal discipline and institutional strengthening.
The Vice-Chancellor particularly praised the government’s support for education and tertiary institutions, saying it had helped create an enabling environment for teaching, learning, research and innovation at PAAU.
He said Kogi had remained resilient and united despite the challenges faced over the past 35 years, adding that the state had recorded progress across several sectors.
Prof. Usman urged the government, institutions and citizens to strengthen collaboration to unlock Kogi’s human and natural resources.
He also called on stakeholders to build on the gains recorded so far while promoting peace, good governance and shared prosperity.
The Vice-Chancellor prayed for wisdom for the state’s leaders and wished Kogi continued growth and development.
