    Drug Abuse: Kano Task Force Sets Up Nine Committees

    The Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Trafficking (MATFDAT) in Kano State has inaugurated nine committees to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.

    The committees were inaugurated on Friday, August 21, 2026, by the task force Chairman, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, who urged members to approach their assignments with commitment and professionalism.

    Rimin Gado said the success of the task force would depend on the dedication and effectiveness of the committees.

    Lamara Garba, Member, Media and Publicity Committee in a statement quoted the chairman to have urged members to work together and remain focused on reducing drug-related challenges in the state.

    According to him, the committees were created to provide a more coordinated approach to the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.

    The nine committees are Finance, Media and Publicity; Advocacy and Sensitisation; Licences, Inventory and Verification; Compliance, Inspection and Electronic Tracking; Monitoring and Implementation; Intelligence; Reformative and Traditional Council; and Anti-Drug Coordination Committee.

    Rimin Gado urged members to see their appointments as a call to service and ensure that their activities produce measurable results.

    He also stressed the need for cooperation among the committees and other stakeholders involved in the campaign against drug abuse and trafficking.

    The inauguration is part of efforts by the Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force to strengthen coordination and develop a more effective and sustained response to drug-related problems.
