Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has dragged Senate President Godswill Akpabio into the tense aftermath of the Osun State governorship election, alleging that the Senate President ordered a halt to the collation of results.
Davido made the claim in a post on his verified X account on Saturday, as results from polling units across the state were being collated.
“Senate President Akpabio has called the Collation Centre that they should stop collation,” the singer alleged.
The claim immediately added another layer of political tension to an already closely watched election, coming at a time when the Independent National Electoral Commission was uploading polling-unit results to its Results Viewing Portal.

According to reports at the time, more than 80 per cent of the results had been uploaded, with the emerging figures generating intense reactions among political parties and their supporters.
Davido’s intervention attracted particular attention because of his close relationship with Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was seeking re-election, and his active involvement in the governor’s political campaign.
However, the allegation against Akpabio was not independently confirmed.
Neither the Senate President nor INEC was immediately reported to have publicly confirmed that Akpabio contacted the collation centre or directed officials to suspend the process.
The allegation nevertheless fuelled fresh concerns over the independence of the electoral process, particularly as political actors and their supporters monitored the results in real time.
The development also underscored the increasingly prominent role Davido has played in the Osun political contest, moving beyond celebrity endorsement to direct commentary on unfolding electoral events.
With the final results still being collated at the time of the allegation, attention remained focused on INEC and the official declaration of the winner.
For Davido, however, the intervention reflected the high stakes surrounding his uncle’s re-election bid and the growing political battle that had extended far beyond the campaign trail.
