Three personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have been killed in a suspected bandit attack while on official patrol duty in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The incident occurred on June 4 along the Tsamiya–Illo Road, a route that has witnessed growing security concerns in recent months.
According to security sources, the officers were conducting routine patrol operations when they encountered armed attackers. On sighting the gunmen, the FRSC team reportedly attempted to retreat, but the assailants chased them on motorcycles and opened fire.

The victims were identified as Deputy Chief Road Marshal Assistant Umar Aliyu, Senior Road Marshal Assistant Ezra Manu Gona, and Road Marshal Assistant I Mansur Ibrahim Nasir.
The killings have heightened anxiety among residents and security personnel operating within the area. Authorities have reportedly advised officials working along the corridor to exercise greater caution while security assessments continue.
Although the motive behind the attack remains unclear, security agencies have launched efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible. Surveillance and security operations have also been intensified across the affected communities to forestall further attacks.
The latest incident underscores the persistent security challenges confronting communities across parts of Kebbi State, where bandit activities continue to pose threats to lives, livelihoods and public institutions. It also highlights the increasing dangers faced by security and emergency personnel carrying out essential duties in high-risk areas.
As investigations continue, residents have called for stronger security measures and sustained operations to curb the activities of criminal gangs operating along major road corridors in the region.
