The Nigeria Democratic Congress has officially thrown open its race for the 2027 presidency, announcing that aspirants seeking the party’s presidential ticket will pay a total of N60 million for nomination processes ahead of its May 29, 2026 primary election.
In a statement that was jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the party said the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for all elective positions would begin on May 13 and end on May 18, while screening of aspirants has been slated for May 19 to 21.
Under the approved fee structure, presidential hopefuls are expected to pay N20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N40 million for the Nomination Form.
The NDC, however, disclosed that female aspirants and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) would benefit from discounted rates, paying 50 per cent and 25 per cent respectively across all categories of forms.
According to the party, screening for presidential aspirants will take place at its National Headquarters in Abuja, while appeals related to the screening exercise will be handled between May 25 and 26.
The presidential primary, scheduled for May 29 in Abuja, will adopt the “open secret ballot” voting method, which the party described as a mechanism aimed at strengthening internal democracy and ensuring a credible emergence process for its presidential candidate.
The party further assured members and aspirants of a transparent and inclusive process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
