Kogi CP commends NHRC for upholding rights, dignity of persons

Nigeria Police, Kogi State Police Command, has commended the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) for the sustained advocacy for enforcement of rights and dignity of all persons.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, disclosed this while addressing officials of the National Human arights Commission (NHRC) who visited him as part of rally to mark the 2025 International Human Rights Day.
While receiving the delegation, the CP Kankarofi appreciated described their efforts as timely, purposeful, and essential for the strengthening of broader Human Rights framework within the state.
He commended the Commission for its sustained advocacy and reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of all persons in line with constitutional and professional standards.
Kankarofi urged the Commission to continue serving, as the ears and eyes of the Command by conducting impromptu visits to Police formations, detention facilities, and other areas of interest.
He urged them to promptly draw the attention of the Command to any identified gaps or concerns relating to Human Rights compliance.
He noted that such constructive oversight would assist the Command in improving Service Delivery and reinforcing accountability.
The CP further emphasized the importance of strong synergy between the Police and the National Human Rights Commission.
He stressed that only positive outcomes can result from a transparent, cooperative, and sustained working relationship aimed at promoting justice, fairness, and the protection of fundamental rights across Kogi State.
In his response, the State Coordinator, NHRC, Kogi State, Barr Nuhu Mohammed commended the Commissioner for the notable achievements recorded within the short period he assumed office.
He affirmed the Commission’s readiness to work closely with the Command as encouraged by the CP and expressed confidence that the strengthened partnership would contribute meaningfully to improvement of human rights standards and community trust.
The engagement reflects a renewed commitment to cooperation, accountability, and shared responsibility in advancing the protection of human rights and the overall safety of residents of Kogi State. (Ends)
