Olu of Apata Marks 11th Anniversary, Pledges Purposeful Leadership

The Olu of Apata, Oba Frederick Balogun, has pledged renewed commitment to purposeful leadership and the continued development of his kingdom as he celebrates 11 years on the throne.

In a royal anniversary message to the people of Apata Kingdom in Lokoja Local Government Area, Oba Balogun described his reign since October 7, 2014, as both divinely guided and richly instructive, noting the lessons and experiences gained over the years.

“I am deeply grateful to God, who in His mercy deemed me worthy to ascend my father’s throne and has sustained me in good health to lead my people to this point,” Oba Balogun stated.

He also expressed heartfelt appreciation to his family, the Olu-lagedu Royal Dynasty, council members, and all sons and daughters of Apata-Ipatun both at home and abroad for their unwavering support.

The monarch acknowledged the backing of the Kogi State Government under Governor Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, including the Deputy Governor, the Speaker and members of the State Assembly, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, as well as local traditional leaders, saying their collaboration has been critical to his successes.

Oba Balogun highlighted his vision for the kingdom and Kogi State as a whole: “My desire is for peaceful coexistence, unity, and collective progress, leaving legacies that will benefit younger generations.”

The Olu also commended the state government and security agencies for maintaining peace and security, noting that development is impossible without a stable and safe environment.

Recently, Oba Balogun was appointed a member of the Governing Council of the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute (NKFI) by Governor Ododo, further affirming his role in advancing both cultural and developmental initiatives for his people.
