Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has encouraged children across the state to dream big, stay committed to learning, and never allow their background to limit their potential.
Speaking during the 2025 Children’s Day celebration held at the Government House in Lokoja, the First Lady commended pupils for their outstanding performances in various academic and creative presentations. She reaffirmed the government’s dedication to free and quality education as a cornerstone of youth empowerment in the state.
“Your future is very bright. Keep dreaming big. Do not let your background limit you, and never forget your roots,” she told the cheering children.
Mrs. Ododo praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s continued investment in education and pledged to use her platform to open more doors of opportunity for Kogi children. She also called for collective action against hunger, poverty, and child abuse, emphasizing the role of teachers as exemplary mentors.

Over 1,000 children received free school bags, textbooks, and writing materials during the celebration, which also featured the cutting of the Children’s Day cake.
