Kogi Govt Vows Timely Completion of Internal Road Projects

The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to complete all ongoing internal road projects under Governor Usman Ododo’s road reconstruction initiative, assuring residents that work will resume in earnest once the rainy season ends.
Commissioner for Works, Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, gave thqe assurance during a media tour of government projects across the state’s three senatorial districts. He was accompanied by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, and a team of journalists.
Inspecting the 10-kilometre Abejukolo–Bagana dual carriageway in Omala Local Government Area, Yusuf disclosed that earthworks and drainages on both sides of the road had been completed, while five kilometres had already been asphalted.
“The remaining five kilometres will be completed as soon as the rains subside. Work will fully recommence in October,” he said, praising Governor Ododo for prioritising rural connectivity and easing the movement of farm produce and motorists between communities.
In Ankpa, Yusuf noted that the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACRESAL) erosion control and road projects had drastically reduced flooding and erosion. He pointed to newly constructed one-by-one-metre drainage channels as evidence of effective environmental management.
Fanwo, speaking on equitable development, said Ododo’s administration was ensuring fairness across the state’s senatorial districts.
“Projects are ongoing in Kogi West and Kogi East, and the Central Senatorial District is next on the agenda,” he said. “You can’t talk of equity without fairness. Governance is about delivering dividends of democracy to the people, not where the leader comes from.”
The commissioners reiterated that Ododo’s government would continue to balance infrastructure development and provide life-changing projects for all communities in the state.
