Suspected kidnappers on Saturday night abducted Dr. Muhammed Egye Osolafia, widely known as Deedat, Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Services to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Osolafia was reportedly taken at his Tudun Amba residence in Lafia shortly after returning home. Witnesses said the assailants arrived firing indiscriminately before seizing their target and fleeing the scene.

Confirming the abduction on Sunday, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, said the state government has directed security agencies to secure Osolafia’s unconditional release.

“The government is not relenting. We are working with security agencies to ensure Dr. Osolafia’s safe return and to keep Lafia and the entire state safe for law-abiding citizens,” Ahemba said. He praised security operatives for their ongoing sacrifices and urged them to intensify their efforts.

Saturday’s incident marks the second high-profile abduction in Lafia in recent months, following the kidnapping of Barrister Yusuf Musa, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Culture, from his Ungwan Nungu residence two months ago.

Attempts to reach the state police spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
