The Buji Local Government Council in Jigawa State has declared a state of emergency on education and commenced extensive repairs and renovations of primary and junior secondary school buildings damaged by recent windstorms.

Council Chairman, Hon. (Arch.) Najibullah Falalu, announced the initiative in an interview with National Update, saying the measure is aimed at restoring safe, conducive learning environments and advancing universal basic education for the next generation of leaders.

Falalu said the intervention aligns with Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda, which prioritizes quality basic education.

“As earlier promised and directed, the emergency intervention and renovation of dilapidated and inhabitable classrooms in primary schools have commenced,” he stated.

The chairman noted that the Special Adviser on Works and Special Projects has been tasked with supervising the repairs, beginning with five schools identified for urgent attention: Madabe, Gwangwan, Dambazau, Alhajeri, and Bulangori primary schools.

According to him, pupils in the affected schools urgently need shelter and improved facilities as they resume the new academic session.

Falalu assured residents that all damaged schools would be rehabilitated and equipped with essential teaching and learning materials. He disclosed that ₦4,753,832.97 has already been released to contractors handling the first phase of the project.
