IBB Turns 84: NSF Pays Tribute to Former President’s Legacy

The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has hailed former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, GCFR, as a visionary leader whose bold policies and statesmanship helped shape modern Nigeria.

In a statement marking his 84th birthday on Monday, NSF Chairman, Sen. Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, described Babangida as an architect of change who guided the country through one of its most critical transitions.

“President Babangida’s years in office (1985–1993) were marked by ambitious economic reforms and infrastructural investments that left a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s growth,” the Forum noted. “His administration also steered the nation’s delicate journey towards civilian governance, a turning point in our political history.”

The Senators further praised Babangida for strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic influence across Africa and on the global stage.

“As we celebrate his 84th birthday, we honour his immense contributions to national development and acknowledge his enduring legacy as a leader who shaped the direction of our country,” the statement added.

On behalf of its members and millions of Nigerians, the Forum wished the elder statesman continued good health, peace, and fulfillment in his twilight years.
